It is 1954 and Chesterton's Tailors of Savile Row is a hive of activity. Junior dressmakers Arthur and Beth like each other but both seem too shy to ask the other out. Mr Chesterton himself arrives with a new order - a classically beautiful green velvet dress. He is getting it made on the off chance that his estranged daughter will move back from America, but experienced employee Margaret has a word and helps him to see sense. Beth wants to go dancing with Arthur, but has no dress to wear. Mr Chesterton provides the solution, in a sweet ending to a lovely story of acceptance.
