TORSTEN, a famous pianist and conductor, awakens bound to a theater chair. The only other person in the stalls is a woman, SILKE. She explains that he will see four acts and must press a button labelled 'KILL' during one of them, to pay a penance for how he has treated musicians in the past.
Each act is introduced one by one by an announcer, and he is faced with an impossible decision. Unable to commit to 'killing' any of the first three acts, he finds himself as the fourth one on stage.
A pompous bully of a conductor. He has walked over people to get to where he is and treated other artists badly.
A mysterious woman sitting with him in the stalls, who has set up the test for Torsten.
A shadowy figure in a box seat, announcing the acts.
