I have been asked to write a synopsis of my screenplay Hack that will convince you to buy it. Hadn't I better convince you to read it first? That is precisely the dilemma my hero, Finn Hackley, faces. His dream is that influential film producer C. Walter Webb will option and eventually produce his screenplay. Conceding no one can be expected to keep a drunken promise of this type, Hackley seizes an opportunity to make Webb beholden to him when he accepts his offer to write a 6-minute comedy bit for Doubles Week on Felicity After Dark, the London television chat show he produces. The routine is for Graham and Hall, today a nostalgia act, who want to be relevant again. Hackley must weigh his responsibility towards septuagenarians Lula Graham and Digby Hall, who hope he will revive their career, against his ambition and opportunism.
